Role Purpose
You will provide expert analysis and insights into commodity markets—mainly natural gas, LNG, NGLs, and crude oil—with a particular focus on European gas markets. Your work will support trading strategies and decision-making through market monitoring, forecasting, and data-driven insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyse market prices and trends for natural gas, LNG, NGLs, and crude oil, with an emphasis on European gas.
- Build supply and demand models to help understand and forecast market dynamics.
- Track market activity, including trade flows, trading behaviours, and changes in regulation.
- Share daily updates with the trading team on key shifts in market fundamentals.
- Identify patterns and emerging trends, and where possible, anticipate market changes.
- Create and maintain tools, databases, and models to support robust and reliable analysis.
- Analyse internal production data, comparing forecasts to actual results.
- Use both quantitative and qualitative data to support your analysis and insights.
Skills and Experience Required:
- A degree in a relevant subject (e.g. economics, engineering, finance, data science, or similar).
- Experience in commodity market analysis, ideally within energy markets.
- Good understanding of global and European gas markets, and knowledge of other commodity markets.
- Confident communicator, both in writing and speaking, able to clearly explain complex ideas to a variety of audiences.
- Experience building and using data models, dashboards, or analytics tools (e.g. Power BI).
- Comfortable working with data in Excel and databases; some experience with Python or similar tools is a plus.
- Good attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- Able to manage competing priorities and stay focused under pressure.
