Role Purpose

You will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely internal and external financial reporting for the group, working closely with different teams across the business. You’ll help ensure we meet our accounting, legal, and regulatory obligations while continuously improving how we report financial information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare high-quality group financial statements, including the Annual Report & Accounts and internal management reports.
  • Collaborate with finance teams across the business to ensure consistent and accurate submissions for group reporting.
  • Build strong working relationships with assigned business units, and review the accuracy and quality of their reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS, company accounting policies, and external legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, and financing activities with relevant financial information and due diligence.
  • Work with external auditors and help prepare information for the Audit & Risk Committee.
  • Help maintain and improve internal controls over financial reporting, ensuring compliance with UK plc standards.
  • Look for opportunities to make reporting processes more efficient and effective.

Systems You’ll Use

  • SAP S/4HANA, including group consolidation tools
  • New group reporting and EU taxonomy tools (e.g. Workiva or similar, to be implemented)

What We’re Looking For

  • A university degree and a recognised accounting qualification (ACA)
  • Significant experience in financial reporting, either in a multinational company or a Big 4 firm
  • Good knowledge of IFRS and internal control processes
  • Experience working in or with listed companies
  • Effective communication skills – able to explain complex financial information clearly and build relationships with teams across the business
  • Confident working to deadlines and solving problems in a fast-paced environment
  • A continuous improvement mindset – someone who looks for better ways to do things
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry
