ABOUT THE ROLE – OVERVIEW

The Facilities Engineer, as part of the Facilities and Site Services team, will be responsible for ensuring maximum facilities and production up time by performing routine planned building and equipment maintenance and upkeep tasks, corrective repairs and maintenance, and also support business projects where facilities support is required, such as new Test Facilities installations, modifications and commissioning or changes to Production Plant and Facilities. You will be responsible for applying fixes to productive equipment and building systems and ensuring facilities are tidy and functional. A good practical demonstration of building maintenance tasks in various fields will be expected, e.g. carpentry, electrical, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), Part of building upkeep will include interior and exterior decoration, painting, minor repairs to doors, windows, roofing, drainage, etc.

This is a full-time position, reporting to the Facilities Manager. Day to day tasks will be planned and managed by the Facilities Team Lead.

ABOUT THE KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Perform general site fixes, repairs and maintenance activities
  • Install new appliances and equipment
  • Undertake major site project works, such as new test and productions facilities installations and commissioning
  • Liaising with, arrange and managing external contractors for site work where this is required
  • Ensure all facilities tools and equipment are properly maintained and kept clean and tidy
  • Inspect, maintain and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g. ventilation)
  • Check site control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues
  • Check functionality of safety systems (e.g. fire alarm)
  • Paint, redecorate, refurbish areas as needed
  • Provide and assemble office and production area furniture, shelving, racking, as required
  • Upkeep and maintenance of site vehicles
  • General cleaning tasks and waste collections
  • Support winter running – salting of pathways, snow clearing, etc.
  • Provide support and inputs to job costings, from arranging quotes to providing inputs to in-house project teams for bids and proposals purposes
  • Support the HESS manager to ensure a safe site is maintained in all areas of the business
  • Support the timely completion of Workplace Inspections and Risk Assessments where required
  • May be required to train as forklift/MEWP/telehandler operator
  • Perform other work related duties as assigned

ABOUT YOU – SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • City and Guilds Level 2 minimum (Level 3 preferred) in a building services engineering related field.
  • Competent in using hand and electrical tools
  •  Ability to read technical manuals and drawings
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, carpentry and fabrication
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be reliable, organised, detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to multi-task
  •  Will require a basic working knowledge of PC applications, such as use of Word/Excel

ABOUT THE WORK ENVIRONMENT – CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Duties will be performed in a mixed environment with periods in a standard office environment, cleanroom, electronics lab, and aspects of the role that will require working within our test facilities. Candidate must be able to work in a safe and conscientious manner in areas with known hazards. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally be required to work late/nightshifts, weekends and holidays. Use of PC equipment is required. Other requirements include;

  • Manual handling
  • Ability to climb ladders
  • Bending at waist, sitting, kneeling, climbing, walking, crouching as job may require
  • Ability to work outdoors in hot and cold temperatures during all weathers
  • Ability to Work at Height required
  • Working in high noise level environments requiring hearing protection
