The UK Manufacturing Control team is responsible for the surveillance of equipment manufacturing for HPC and SZC EPR projects in the UK, to ensure that the manufacturing from the suppliers is fulfilled with the expected level of quality, in accordance with the specified requirements.
The UK Manufacturing Control team aim to provide adequate and reactive in-shop surveillance for manufacturing activities in the UK for these projects. Within its scope of delegated authority, UKMC also provides technical support to the HPC site for the resolution of technical manufacturing issues arising on equipment delivery.
UKMC is part of EDF EPR Engineering UK. Our team comprises approximately 20 people, including 5 qualified equipment engineers.
Essential requirements
- Degree qualified or equivalent in mechanical or materials engineering
- Demonstrable experience in mechanical engineering, particularly in metallurgy, materials, or welding
- Positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders
Description of the role:
As an equipment engineer you would:
- Be accountable for the production of the Surveillance Offers* related to the contracts for which UKMC has been mandated by HPC to perform these activities, and responsible for the production of the documentation surveillance plan (as part of the Surveillance Offer).
*The Surveillance Offer is the technical provision of services of DI for the surveillance activities of equipment manufacturing, in response to a mandate from the Client (HPC/SZC project). This SO relies on a risk assessment (including project risks and manufacturing risks), performed by the Equipment Engineer (in collaboration with the in-shop inspection team), and aims to:
- Provide reasonable assurance with high added value that the manufacturing of components is achieved according to applicable quality standards
- Fulfil the UK regulatory obligations concerning the overview of manufacturing of nuclear components (on behalf our Clients)
- Embed the manufacturing OPEX
- Support the surveillance inspectors for technical aspects related to the in-shop surveillance (for a better understanding of contractual technical requirements, also by giving advice on deviations/non-conformances, or by joining inspectors on the field). He/she takes part in manufacturing kick-off meetings alongside with the inspectors
- Performs the technical review and deliver the official approvals on the following documents issued by the Suppliers:
-manufacturing procedures and specifications
-Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) issued during manufacturing
-exemption requests
- Responsible for the production of Clearance Notes which purpose is to report to the Client whether the surveillance carried out is in accordance with the associated Surveillance Offer, and to highlights the gaps if any
- Contribute to the capitalization of OPEX regarding manufacturing issues
- Contribute to the production of contractual technical requirements for manufacturing operations
- Support the HPC/SZC projects with technical expertise regarding the manufacturing issues that may have occurred on equipment delivered to nuclear site
