Role Overview:
The Health and Safety Advisor will be responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of health and safety policies and procedures across infrastructure projects. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of health and safety regulations, risk management, and the ability to work collaboratively with project teams to promote a culture of safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act, Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, and other applicable regulations.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough risk assessments and develop risk management strategies to mitigate potential hazards associated with infrastructure projects.
- Safety Management Systems: Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety management systems in line with ISO 45001 and other relevant standards.
- Training and Development: Provide training and support to project teams on health and safety best practices, policies, and procedures.
- Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring that findings are documented and communicated effectively to prevent recurrence.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Conduct regular site inspections and audits to monitor compliance with health and safety standards, and report findings to senior management.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, contractors, and local communities, to promote health and safety initiatives.
- Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of continuous improvement in health and safety performance through the identification and implementation of best practices.
- Education: Degree or MSc in Health and Safety, Environmental Management, or a related field OR Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, risk management principles, and best practices in health and safety management.
- Experience: Relevant experience in health and safety management within the infrastructure or construction sector.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Proficient in the use of health and safety management software and tools.

Working Conditions:
- This role requires travel 3-5 days a week to various sites
